This reminds me of the Elmer Patchwork Elephant story, when the other elephants paint themselves to celebrate Elmer Day whey he was embarrassed about being patchwork :-( -hurray for painted elephants. lovely work.x http://teach5.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/elmer.jpg
This is so spectacular! I just love it. That elephant is beautiful, love the way you did the skin. And then the bird and flowers incorporated...ah! It has a dream like quality to it.
I've been doing some scherenschnitte cuttings and am thinking of doing an elephant. Today I find a dish I like at the 2nd hand store and discover that it has an elephant logo on the bottom of the dish; then I take a library book out with children's illustration (birds really) and 4 pages in discover a large 2-page full spread elephant illustration. Then later, I go to the one and only art blog (yours) that I have time for and what do I see...a gorgeous elephant! Oh it is an elephant kind of day for me! Thanks for topping it off perfectly. Love your blog, Norma
Hello from Poland ! I'm a great fan of your talent - but this elephant is so amazing that i've loose my voice .... It reminds me a hindu legend about the earth founded on elephants back .
Awesome! This would look fantastic as a card, maybe as one of a set of different animals with others painted within them. Thinking off the top of my head, how about an elephant that 'contains' other endangered species? I'm sure that wildlife charities would jump at the chance to sell such an image.
Oh I love this elephant! I love all elephants but yours is so perfectly colored. That sneaky bird and the wonderful flowers are gorgeous! You have an amazing sense of colors and you blend them so well....
If you'd sell those in your shop I'd buy it IMMEDIATELY. I love elephants and I love your birds as well so I can't imagine a better combination. Please?
I showed your blog to my students and they were mesmerized. They made up stories about your paintings and looking at everything inspired so many questions and ideas! I am so glad to have found a clean, kid-friendly art blog. WE LOVE IT!
I have been staring at this ever since you posted it - its sooooooooooooo lovely ... and I just had to tell you how much it reminded me of this (which I just bought for myself too...): http://camillaengman.blogspot.com/2010/03/vorrei-avere.html
