I traded my watercolors for some fun with my new Faber-Castell Polychromos colour pencils today.

YES they work great : gave them to my husband last year .... (My own Karisma are almost gone :-( ... and they are out of production :-( !!!)

these are my absolute favourite, when I was in art school I would use them to the bare bone.
Now I want to get one myself.

Are these the best colour pencils? I want to buy myself a good set of colour pencils, but I don't know which are really good.

Oh I adore Polychromos! I ordered mine online and so picked the colours for them from photos and ended up with a slightly odd selection, I think I should've bought a set like yours!

Are you using watercolour paper?
I have an older set of the Polychromos, but I'm having a hard time getting the smoothness I see you and others get. I have used mixed media paper(strathmore visual journal) and just yesterday I tried cardstock (because of I'm going to cut out the image.) I use the Derwent blender pencil, so that helps, but it feels like I'm cheating!
I'll have to try some other papers.
I love the colors, I didn't know color pencils could be that vivid. Hope to get my hands on a basic set sometime.

I think colored pencils make my art more free. I don't try to control them as much and I love that.
I love a change of medium now and then! What paper are you using?
Lovely. As a Swiss, I prefer Caran D'Ache. As a matter of fact, I LOVE them!
